Welcome to Brickhampton Mens Section.

There is something for everyone to get involved in, regardless of ability. Whether you are new to golf and need assistance in gaining a handicap, have recently joined the Club and want to find out how to meet other follow members, or are a long-established member feel free to contact myself or Andy so we can help to ensure that you are enjoying your time at Brickhampton. If you are new to the game &/or club then do take a look at the Getting Started at Brickhampton in the menu at the top of this page.

We try to be a friendly and inclusive club and welcome full participation of everyone in club competitions; mixed and interclub league matches, charity days and captains’ days. For those who want more informal golf then there is always roll up games on Monday, Friday and Saturday which provide a great opportunity to meet and play with fellow members as well as just enjoying the great hospitality facilities afterwards.

Bricky also has a very active ‘A’ team squad alongside a very supportive ‘B’ team. We would encourage you to sign up for the ‘A’s – if you are of that calibre – unfortunately myself & Andy are not quite there yet but Andy is in charge of the ‘B’s and as such feel free to contact him to discuss participation. These are always, although hotly contested, great ‘fun’ days & a great opportunity to meet fellow golfers from other clubs.

The seasons fixtures are contained in the fixture list which can be found on the Members Information Menu on this Website ( hard copies are also available at the club ). We do recommend you browse thru’ to see what’s up & coming – including various Captains days (always great fun), the Captains Charity Day (18th July) – where all your Captains organise a day of golfing activities with the aim of raising lots of money for this years nominated charity (See the Charity Menu above), and do watch out for the various ‘social events’ booked in throughout the year where golfers & those non golfers can get together for evenings of humour & entertainment.

As you will have gathered by now, although there’s lot of ‘serious’ golf competitions throughout the year, we strive to try and inject lots of fun & humour throughout the year too and we believe this balance ensures the membership truly enjoy their time @ Bricky – we hope you agree.

B Team

The B team provides a great opportunity to play inter club social golf. Although matches are played on a friendly basis and all are welcome to participate - personal pride means there is always a competitive edge to the matches. Having said this they are always played in great spirit with lots of banter and laughs along way. We play our matches typically between March and October; these are usually the reverse fixtures of our A team - for example, if the A team are at home to Puckrup Hall, the B team will play a friendly match away at Puckrup Hall. We also have a number of other friendlies against other clubs. These venues change year on year depending upon the league makeups and are always great events to be part of and are played in great spirit.

The Format: The B team plays 4ball better ball with 90% of the difference handicaps. The team consists of 12 players a side, although some friendlies do stretch that to 14 or even sometimes 16! A typical Home B team match day will involve a mid-late morning meet for Brunch followed by the first Tee time around 1200. Once the matches are all finished we all meet up on the patio or clubhouse (if the weather is against us) for more banter, light refreshment and the match result speeches, nearest the pin, prize giving and the tongue in cheek fines carried out by the ruthless Fines Master of the day (don’t worry, it's all a bit of fun and all monies raised - only £2 or so each person - go into the B team fund for our end of season match against the A team which is used to celebrate another great year's golfing at Brickhampton). We are normally all done & dusted in the matches by around 6pm. Away matches follow a similar format although some clubs stick to the traditional evening meal after the match with Jackets/Shirts and ties required in place of the earlier Brunch format. This can push the finish time out to nearer 1930-2000 but usually accompanied by a later start like a 1pm start.

How to get involved or get more information: The current Men’s Vice Captain runs the B team matches for any given year. A sheet will go up on the men’s changing room notice board around mid-February which gives all members an opportunity to declare an interest, or you can simply e mail the men's vice-captain Ade Stalley at bcgcmensvcapt@gmail.com. As the matches get underway, everyone will be notified of upcoming matches and be asked to indicate their availability via email. Teams will then be selected. It’s important to point out that everyone expressing an interest to play will get selected during the year as we do try to keep everyone happy and ensure we keep with the club ethic of everyone being welcome.

If you want any information around B team, please contact the men’s vice-captain or men’s captain of the year using the email address above. Happy golfing & we hope to see you representing Brickhampton B team very soon.
